News from the Garden

Fall and early Spring are the best times to grow lettuces in the garden.  Lettuces are cool weather crops and they are finicky!  They do not like hot weather or cold weather.  Like Goldilocks, they like it just right!  Lettuces have shallow root systems and grow rapidly under the right conditions.  We plant lettuces from transplants and seeds.  Transplanted lettuce can be ready for harvest in just 30-40 days!  We love planting butterhead lettuce, red leaf lettuce and romaine lettuce!  They are a feature in our salads in the cafe!
